  18. Try disabling V.42. I don't have the registers for that particular modem 
  19. but check your manual. Some modems do not negotiate that very well and 
  20. the modems never complete the synch up.

  22. I would find a new ISP myself since one that uses V.32bis only would be a 
  23. poor choice.
